It's about 5 minutes walk down on the right. From Leicester Square: Take the exit which comes out by the Hippodrome and turn left up the road toward Oxford Street. It's about 5 minutes up on the left. The Montagu Pyke used to be The Marquee in one of its incarnations. They serve reasonably-priced alcohol and good food - what more could you ask?! Please see the Forum discussion thread for more details. Have fun! - Voxgate Midlands / Monument gig next year? Paul Chaplow (moderator Chappie on the Forum) is looking to organise a Voxgate in the Midlands early next year, including a gig by Monument - the Official Ultravox tribute band. Paul says: We are thinking about the last weekend in March 2006 or either of the first 2 weekends in April. It will be held in Birmingham or the surrounding area, depending on interest. Monument will play live and there is a chance we can also get a Gary Numan or Human League tribute band to play as well. Tickets will be reasonably priced (est. £7.50 - £9.00), which isnt bad for 2 bands plus a day out meeting like minded people! What we need to know in order to make this happen, is how many people might be interested in coming. Is it something that you would like to attend? Are you free around that time? Can you travel to Birmingham? Then please let us know! Reply to this email by Saturday 12th November, stating your name, email address and town that you live in. We will keep you posted on progress via this news list. - Billy to release Humania album In 1989 Billy put together an excellent band called Humania, consisting of himself on keyboards, Robin Simon on guitar, Marcus O'Higgins on vocals, Susan Rachel on bass and Ray Weston on drums. Humania played some stonking live gigs, performing both new material and nicely reworked Ultravox covers, but sadly were short-lived. The shows were very well received by all those who saw them, but no album was ever released. However, the wait is now over! Billy says: Later this month I will be putting together, and mastering with Peter Dudley, all the Humania music that was produced back then. I am looking forward to finally getting this last piece of the puzzle out! It will be a mixture of studio recordings and "live in the studio" recordings. We are supplying Billy with our live photos of the Humania, which may or may not be used in the album's artwork. Having seen them live, this is one album we just can't wait for! - John to release Nation 12 album Nation 12 is a project that started life as a collaboration between electronic pioneer John Foxx and Bomb The Bass's Tim Simenon back in 1989. Now at last, John is to release an album of Nation 12 material, probably in December this year. More news as we get it. - Midge collects OBE and a degree Midge has been in the press quite a bit recently, having picked up his OBE from Buckingham Palace with his family (see photo). Midge was also awarded an honourary degree (Doctor of Arts) from Abertay University, the week before! More articles and photos (including Midge's black kilt!) will be in the Media Archive shortly. - Midge Ure live As Midge is currently performing a rolling set of live dates which are constantly updated, it's best if we refer you to the News page on his website. To go to midgeure.com, click here. - Messengers release an album! The Messengers supported Ultravox on most of their tours and are comprised of Danny Mitchell and Colin King. Danny has also had a writing partnership with Midge Ure for many years, co-penning a surprising number of his hits. Tragically they never accepted a record deal in the 1980's, but spurred on by fan interest, Messengers have finally completed and recorded a wonderful album, It's Been Twenty Years, Let's Try Turning Up the Volume which is available exclusively at Ultravox.org.uk. To buy through Ultravox.org.uk, click here. - EV fanzines now available When Extreme Voice 'EV' fanzines (the Official Ultravox Fanzine, which spawned this site) first started out in 1984, it was a small, photocopied affair for the price of three stamps! Over the years it became the Official Ultravox Fanzine and website with exclusive interviews and photos, and from EV13 onwards was professionally designed and printed (about the same time that Cerise qualified as a Graphic Designer, funnily enough!). Most of these issues (1-16) have been out of print for years but are now available as reproductions, except for 17, 18, 19 and 20 which are still available in small quantities of original issues. ＞ しげるさん ハンドル変更の件、了解しました。 多分、Amazon.co.jpは今日一斉に発送だったんでしょうね。 6曲入りのEPは、最初、表側に入っていたので、これが本編のアルバム かと思い、iTunesに読み込ませて2曲目を再生したところ、 John Foxxの声が全然聴こえないので、おかしいなぁと思ったら、 付属の6曲入りEPでした。(^^; Budd御大のラストライヴのメンバーのコラボレーションは、 あればいいなぁ・・・とライヴレポートのほうに書きましたが、 本当に実現して私も嬉しいです。 すごいアンビエントな作品となりそうです。 Nation 12は、アルバムなんてあったのかーという感じです。 リリース済みの12インチシングル2枚とあまり曲が被らない というのも嬉しいです。 ＞ なんだかんだで今年もジョン・フォックス先生、すごいリリース量ですね。 そうそう、そうなんですよ。 ここ数年のJohn先生のリリース量って驚異的ですよね。 1年に新譜3枚出したときもあるし。（笑） それに比べると、Midge先生のほうは、ちょこちょこライヴとかは 出してますが、純粋なオリジナルアルバムは2000年の"Move Me"以来無いですね。 Midge先生も頑張ってもらいたいところです。 OFF会のほうもご都合よろしければ是非ご参加くださいね。
ジョン・フォックスをフィーチャーした"Free Robot"は、 事実上クラバン収録の"She Robot"のリミックスでしたね。 でも全体的にはいい感じで聞けました。 ちなみにアマゾンで注文したら限定盤で６曲入シングルがついてました。 あと、ハロルド・バッド・コンサートからのコラボ、本当に実現しましたね。 すごく嬉しいです。 特に僕はロビン・ガスリーのファンなので、 自分が強烈に影響を受けたアーティストの共演には期待してます。 またNation12もフルアルバムで発売されるとの事で楽しみです。 なんだかんだで今年もジョン・フォックス先生、すごいリリース量ですね。 追伸 ハンドルネームはMixiと統一した方がいいと思うので、 でにす・りーからしげるに代えさせていただきます。 今後もよろしくおねがいします。

本日届いたMetamatic Newsより転載です。 私が観に行ったHarold Buddのラストライヴからのコラボの発展と、 Nation 12のリリースに関する話題で、 どっちも楽しみですね。 -------------------------------------------------- Contents -- Collaborations... -- Nation 12... ***** Collaborations... Rumours have been flying around for a few months now as to the possible collaborations that John could've become involved in following on from the Harold Budd farewell concert that took place back in May of this year. John E-Mailed me earlier today with news about his ongoing projects with Robin Guthrie, Theo Travis, Steve Jansen, Bill Nelson and Harold Budd... <italic>"Thoroughly enjoyed working with Robin Guthrie - a unique musician whose work made me sunburst and snowblind when I first heard the Cocteau Twins in the early eighties. We've done the greater part of an album so far at his place in France and will finish off in early November. Rob was really on form, sessions went blazingly well - really inspired. We were doing two tracks a day, verging on three at times, yet it all felt so effortless. Dazzling. "Heard Theo Travis at Harolds concert at Brighton and was mighty impressed by the way he uses loops and long echoes and delays - coincided perfectly with the way I like to work with vocals. We later conspired quietly and Theo made some beautiful recordings which I've just begun work with. So far it all sounds perfectly pleasing to me. Serene velocity easily attained. "More than pleased to work with Steve Jansen after admiring his work for years - detail and subtlety with function. He came down to the studios and calmly turned out more than enough material for an album in just two sessions. Steve D'Agostino is doing the recording - worked with everyone interesting in modern music from Gina X to Goldfrapp and is Mr Calm and Completely Capable. (Also knows much more than I do about my own work. Encyclopedic). We kept everything Steve Jansen did because it all sounded so right. Can't wait to start working with his material, its unlike anything else attempted so far and I just know its going to be a real adventure. "Harold Budd and Bill Nelson are plotting to do versions of what we did at Brighton. Basically the preparation for that performance involved a ten minute rehearsal, after which Harold said 'that's just fine' - and so it was. Afterwards we all felt it simply can't be let go at that. Anything that feels so effortless, yet has an inherent power of its own has got to be worth revisiting and recording. We easily could get a whole album out of any of the pieces we played. So much promise there. Thankfully Bill and Harold are of the same mind, so we're all off on safari toward the end of the year. "From my perspective, after never being one for collaborations, It's so surprising to happen upon such an entire unexpected, inspiring set of people. We all sail together so well, it always seems to go without much effort, yet everything sounds so rich and complete. A deeply gratifying experience, I can tell you. There are others in there I haven't been in touch with yet, but I will. "Of course, all this is completely Harolds fault. If he hadn't retired, we wouldn't all be working so hard. He's really the pivot around which everything turns. Hard to overestimate his significance to all of us - and to this kind of music, which I think is perhaps the beginning - just a glimpse, a glint, a wee glimmer, of something lovely - with legs." </italic>Full details regarding the progress of all of these projects will be posted on Metamatic just as soon as the details have been confirmed. ***** Nation 12... Nation 12's long-lost album, "Electrofear" is going to be released by Tape Modern Records on the 14th of November. The album includes John Foxx's collaboration with Tim Simenon, "Remember", plus Nation 12's second single, "Electrofear". However, most of the material has never been heard before. In total there are seventy-seven minutes of music including vocal-led John Foxx songs such as "Shadow Dancing", "Your Kisses Burn" and "She Was", as well as very different versions of "Cities of Light" and "Invisible Women". 今日10/10はMidge Ureの誕生日ですね。 おめでとうございます。 1953年生だから、52歳ですね。
今日は注文していた以下のアナログ2枚が到着しました。 - Free Robot (12inch Single) / Metamatcs (2005) - Under Influence (LP) / Zones (1979) "Free Robot"はJohn Foxx参加のMetamaticsの12インチシングルです。 やっと到着しました。 "Zones"は、Midge Ureが抜けた後のSlikのメンバー2人が在籍し、 The Armoury ShowのメンバーRussell Webbも在籍したバンドです。 今はレコードプレーヤーは実家にしか無いので、 どちらも帰省予定の今月末まで聴けません・・・。(ToT) ＞Mitsu Griffさん OFF会の参加表明ありがとうございます。 これで5名になりました。(^^) またお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。 リクエストのVisageのビデオは以前発売されたLDから選んでおきますね。 http://jage.jp/ultravox/av/AV_Visage_Official.html 上にも書きましたが、Metamaticの12インチシングル"Free Robot"はやっと到着しました。 アルバムのほうですが、Mitsuさんはアナログ盤も買われたのですね。 "Dislocated Remixed"は私はまだ発注してないんですが、 1ヶ月以上経つのにまだ発売してないとはどうしちゃったんでしょうね。
